Arts & Letters

The Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter Arts and Letters Committee works in conjunction with the National Arts and Letters Commission to provide artistic and cultural outlets for chapter members and our local communities.

The Arts and Letters Committee is responsible for promoting a positive image of African Americans in our community through the mediums of music, dance, drama, and poetry. The Committee promotes worthwhile cultural endeavors and artists through events such as book signings, theater parties, concerts, and artist showcases.

The Los Angeles Delta Choraliers are the musical voice of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. On May 24, 2008, the Los Angeles Delta Choraliers celebrated 50 years of musical service under the continued direction of Danellen Joseph. This musical group, comprised of at least 50 Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter members, has consistently performed for national conventions and regional conferences.

Their signature event is the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Commemorative Concert. This event is jointly sponsored with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Chorus (comprised of choir members representing several AKA chapters). This signature concert takes place in January on the Sunday around the national holiday dedicated to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 2010, the Los Angeles Delta Choraliers celebrate the 25th year of participating in this wonderfully popular community concert.
